DigiSAFE helps adults aged 45 and over in Italy, Spain and Slovakia recognise online scams, protect their data and use digital tools with confidence — through practical workshops, a free toolkit and a curriculum built for non-formal education.

Why DigiSAFE
The digital divide is a safety risk
Digital skills decline sharply with age. Across the EU, 55% of people aged 45–54 have above-basic digital skills — but the share drops to 47% among those aged 55–64 and to just 29% among those aged 65–74 (Eurostat, 2023). At the same time, online fraud is rising fast, and AI-generated scams, deepfakes and phishing make threats harder than ever to recognise.
In Slovakia, 43% of older adults struggle to adapt to digital change. In Italy, tens of thousands of adults aged 45–54 fell victim to cyber fraud in a single year. DigiSAFE responds with practical, non-formal education that builds real skills — and real confidence.

What we do
From research to results
Four connected activities take DigiSAFE from national research to free, ready-to-use resources for adults 45+ and their educators.
Activity 1
Needs Assessment & Curriculum
National research in Italy, Spain and Slovakia, followed by a co-created non-formal education curriculum on digital safety for adults 45+.
Activity 2
International Pilot
A five-day training in Ružomberok, Slovakia, where participants and trainers from all three countries test and refine the curriculum.
Activity 3
Digital Fraud Prevention Toolkit
A free toolkit with theory, practical workshops, a self-assessment test and 30 short videos in Italian, Spanish and Slovak with English subtitles.
Activity 4
digiSAFE Week
Free local workshops in each partner country, helping adults 45+ spot phishing, AI-generated images and fraudulent messages.
Learning together
Practical, hands-on, and built for real life
DigiSAFE uses non-formal education methods — scenario-based learning, real-life fraud cases and peer-to-peer skills exchange — so that learning feels approachable, not intimidating. Workshops are designed with adults 45+ in mind, at a comfortable pace, with plenty of room for questions.
Educators and community organisations across Italy, Spain and Slovakia work side by side with participants, turning research into skills people can use the very same day.
